The Founders Story

The Founder’s Story

My name is Dari Williams, and like many of you, I know what it means to love someone battling addiction. I’ve lived the long nights, the hard choices, and the silent heartbreak. I’ve watched families—my own included—struggle in the shadows, unseen and unsupported. It was in those quiet, painful moments that the seed for Behind the Battle Foundation was planted.

Behind the Battle was created not just as a nonprofit—but as a lifeline. A safe space. A support system for the families who are often forgotten. I’ve stood where you stand. I’ve asked the questions no one could answer. And I’ve cried tears no one saw.

That’s why we’re here—to be the light for those left behind. I invite you to walk this journey with us. Whether you’ve been through it, are living it, or want to support those who are—we’re in this together.

Let’s break the silence. Let’s hold each other up. Let’s remind the world that healing doesn’t just happen in rehab—it starts with community, compassion, and faith in something greater than our pain.

I know the pain of loving someone struggling with addiction. I’ve endured the sleepless nights, the tears behind closed doors, the shame, the fear, and the heavy silence of holding it all together. I’ve been the daughter, the sister, the friend, and the mother—quietly fighting a war few see.

This foundation is for you—the ones left behind. For those who love someone battling addiction but are fighting their own battles in the background. You are not invisible. You are not alone.

This is my story. This is my why. And this is your reminder that your strength matters, your grief is valid, and your love is not in vain. Together, we can rebuild. Together, we can shine a light in the darkest places.
